I made a bit more progress on my dress this weekend. I made the outside layer of the bodice and then boned it. (That means I put strips of plastic-y stuff in the seams so the dress will support itself rather than relying on the straps, but it's more fun to phrase it the other way.) I also made the inside layer of the skirt and cut out the blue ( Read more... )

Yeah, I'm kinda nuts, but it's something I always assumed I'd do. I'm also making my (3) bridesmaid and (2) junior bridesmaid dresses, which I think is the real crazy part. But that way, the three very different personalities can each have something that they fee comfortable with, and at the same time, I can have them at least be the same color.

I'll see if I've got copies of the pictures Stephen took of the pattern dress I made. I couldn't find a pattern that was what I wanted, so I combined 3 dresses, and made up pieces to make it similar to a dress I found online. The final creation has a white bodice and skirt, with a blue line that runs from my armpits, crosses in the back, and then meets again in the front, with blue straps that continue down and make tails.

I'm more than impressed. I can't even imagine making one basic dress, let alone a wedding dress AND 5 other bridesmaid dresses.

It certainly sounds beautiful. :)

It really does.

Let me know if there is anything I can do, but not with the sewing. You really don't want my help with that.I will be in Northern California for a few more months, though.
