VR mode in Xiaomi smartphones

Problem:

Google Alarm clock won't work in Xiaomi smartphones. The app reports "Alarms are blocked in VR mode."

Proposed in the Internet solutions:

1. Not reliable: Settings --> Features --> Disable VR mode.
2. Reliable: Uninstall and Reinstall Google Alarm clock.
3. Reliable: Use Xiaomi Alarm clock app instead of Google.

Elegant, proper and reliable solution not found yet. Share if you have one.
