The dream felt so real,
when I saw you and grinned
from ear to ear
As you saw me, too...
We were always that way.
Two silly schoolchildren,
running towards each other,
baggage be damned,
Young as we had claimed not to be
in those first foolish lies
And in my slumber, it felt so right,
So easy.
Barreling right up to you,
the one who made my everything
so right.
You were the one who brought my
music back,
even inked it into my skin,
gave me a song again.
In my dream, I could cross those
boundaries, ask those
questions that are taboo
for people passed by.
I shined for you like you
always said I did,
as you watched me from the
stage.
I mouthed the words, and I was
not afraid.
As I woke, I felt such loss,
for as dear as I hold you,
it must always be at
arms lenghth,
but I can say now
with a sigh...
If I ever get to walk down
La Cienega,
I'll just smile
and hope
to see you around.
