I'm ache-y and kind of sick but I had a fantastic week so far. Ringing in the New Year started early with a SPN fangirl meet-up this past Sunday and then more NYE festivities last night with my girls (including discovering how much I suck at Guitar Hero and karaoke.) Crazy, great, wonderful times. Need a vacation for vacation.
Closed out 2007 by finishing and posting my spn_holidays story last night:
The Accidental Boyfriend

The first boyfriend Dean ever had wasn’t his brother.
*rubs hands* A new year and many more things to finish and work on. Oh yes.
Though I wish I could've written more stories this year -- or at least, finish more stories -- I'm happy with the way things turned out, because if anything, I was writing more than I have in ages, whether it was publically posted or still in WIP form. I've had some stories that will be posted in this upcoming year, so I had to not mention them below because they're so stuck in my head but not finished! Argh. So I feel productive, at least in writing, even if I didn't get to post the stories yet. One of the main reasons why I'm so gleeful about falling head over heels in love with Supernatural is that it got me writing again, more interested in certain things and made me have a new love for others.

2007 Fic Review
My favorite story this year (of my own)
Probably Supernatural, Double Feature (The Winchester Horror Picture Show) because not only was it a crossover with one of my favorite movies ever, but I got to co-write with regala_electra and make a ton of graphics. Including boys in corsets and fishnets for a valid, they're putting the whammy on us, reason. Yeah. Valid. Riiiight.
My best story this year
it's not the years, honey, it's the mileage, pretty much. Combining a lot of my favorite things (future!fic, NYC, SamnDean, Indiana Jones) and it didn't totally veer into crack territory.
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion
Um, maybe double feature (soft and heartland)? It was one of the first SPN stories I did so I still had a lot of things to learn and work out, but it did have the boys having sex in an abandoned movie theater while watching Evil Dead II. What, me insert more of my favorite things? Puh-lease.
Most fun story
Ben Has Two Dads Uncles! Again, Reg and I let our craziness go wild, but I really enjoyed it when I look back at it afterwards, even if I was doing graphics all in one night like a madwoman because I am also an idiot. But the boys + Ben = turned out to be fun and angsty in parts, who knew?
Most sexy story
Running My Hands (Through His Hair), I think. There have been other stories after with sex scenes -- not that sexy has to necessarily include sex scenes -- but I liked the dynamic within this, having the boys, humor, and kinks go together. It was fun.
Story with single sexiest moment
Bridge and Tunnel - the opening sex scene. I am very lucky I have regala_electra to back-up my crazy and she jumped on when I sent her this while I was all jumpy from writing that.
Story with single sweetest moment
it's not the years, honey, it's the mileage - in which Dean 'tells' Sam those three words, in the only way Dean can, which involves cursing and ass smacking afterwards.
Most unintentionally "telling" story
Probably Life's A Kick In This Town, because a lot of it results from reactions (mine and others) and assorted things about film industry stuff.
"Holy crap, that's wrong even for you" story.
It's a toss-up between Cara: The Face Of Sam and Starring Dean Winchester As The Other White Meat. I can't decide if making Sam pregnant and putting his head in a jar is worse than turning Dean into a pig and having tongue-in-cheek Wincest beastiality references. (The beastiality didn't happen. Honest!)
Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters
double feature (soft and heartland), which is odd but at the time I was working on a lot of stories at once and was a little iffy on characters -- I remember finally getting a solid hold on the characters in writing that and shifting how I viewed them.
Biggest disappointment
Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps). It became an issue of trying to sneak it in before the deadline which results in rushing to finish the last third of it and resolution, meaning there are things that needed to be worked out. Not good when you're working on a SPN casefile fic for the first time.
Biggest surprise
it's not the years, honey, it's the mileage. Again, future!fic with Dean as a film professor, Sam as a librarian and it was unleashed. I just thought it was gonna be a simple story and regala_electra kept pushing me to finish and enabling me, as per usual. The Prettiest Star was helpful in showing that my cracky crossover button was not broken and wheeee, totally made me really get into SPN AUs and crossover love stuff, which was very helpful.
Hardest story to write
Again, Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) because it was casefile fic, and I haven't done that in years.
Easiest story to write
Feel Your Taste. It only took like two or three days, I think? And it just came out, which is funny since it's my first J2 with additional things that I don't normally write about but it came together really fast.
This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most
Running My Hands (Through His Hair) - the theme being established relationships, pie, public sex, and kinks are A-OK? ...man, I have no clue whatsoever. *hands*
Next in 2008
Genderswap and kids and bodyswap and possessions and art and media mixed in and things that are not crack, honest. Oh, and spn_j2_bigbang, if they have one this year. *crosses fingers* >:D 2008's gonna be a more productive year for me, hopefully not just in SPN but in other fandoms too, both old and new.
