cinderelly, cinderelly (and brothercest that's not petrelli!)

::dances at the horrible pun in ye olde subject title::

Watching a number of shows and films these past few days, so here's the babble:

...for a Disney animated sequel, which is usually made of suck? (See Mulan II), this was pretty good. WAY better than Cinderella II (hell, anything is, that one didn't even have a plot). The premise, without spoiling it too much, is a twist on what would have happened if Cinderella never got a chance to try on the glass slipper, thus preventing the Prince from finding the girl who fit the shoe. It's Lady Tremaine's doing and so Cinderella has to try and get the Prince afterwards. It's a little darker than the previous candy cane ones. A little being, only a little -- the end sequence with Cinderella in a spooky pumpkin carriage being ridden by Lucifer on a wild carriage ride was cooooool, if not predictable. Then again, I need to remember it's a children's film. But for a sequel, it was very good. Still had that type of animation from the original, though updated technologically (CGI in certain parts, but not overly noticeable -- like tapestries, magic effects, etc.) Some cute quips and lines, too.

I kind of want to poke Prince Charming for being ridiculously dorky and adorable. He actually had a PART; he wasn't the cipher of the first film, he was funny and...well, charming, but cute. Not just the typical nice guy role. He had a sense of dorkiness and humor. And the same voice actor who did the voice of Prince Eric, so there's a crossover for ya. (Seriously, I half expected Eric and Ariel to lend Charming -- is that his name? odd -- a hand towards the end).

But, perhaps most importantly, THERE WAS A BOAT AND SWASHBUCKLING PRINCE. Charming was all swashbuckle-y towards the end, confirming a nagging thought: Disney Rule #8095672, Effective July 2003: If All Else Fails, Adding Boats And Pirate Antics Will Help.

Hey, I still liked it. But I'm gullible and love old school Disney. I'm getting that Disney Princesses DVD when it comes out for Belle because BATB = FTW. If you're in the mood for simple Disney and have free time, give it a shot. It won't kill you. ;)

I thought about waiting until I've seen all of S1 to finally post about watching the show, but at the slow rate I go when marathon-ing, that'd take ages. So today I watched up to and including Skin (which I think regala_electra told me about AAAAGES ago that I'd like it, for obvious weirdy reasons, but I was too impatient with the first few eps to actually get there. I don't like skipping episodes, but if it gets boring, I get bored, and stop watching. It's like a three ep rule, or something similar. (This is why I'm still stuck on the third ep of Torchwood, heh.

I must also confess that I wanted to check it out again (I'd seen it months ago by prodding from raelala & starstillwonder) because... Jensen Ackles was in S4 of Smallville and he made any scene with Lana Lang bearable. Because, you know, half the fun of the show is mocking Ms. L, and random Jason Teague quips and WTF expressions makes it less painful and more fun. Suffice it to say, I like Dean a lot now, and he makes what could be boring plots more exciting. Kind of like Jack in Torchwood. I don't mind Sam; he's adorkable, but right now, Dean's pretty awesome.

::waits for rain of I Told You So's:: Did I mention that I really, really don't like urban myths/scary stories due to way too many horrible children dares/conversations/reading aloud scary stories? I can't help it. I still haven't seen The Exorcist or finished Poltergeist because I don't like horror. Granted, it's the WB CW so they can't go that far, and I've been raised on BtVS/AtS but... if it isn't straight up vampire, and more like Bloody Mary (aghhaahh EYE FEAR. fucking agent sands, man...) do. not. want.

...However, the Wincest makes it okay, and I'll continue watching more episodes. I've always seen the brothers thing, but now after liking Petrellicest, I can see it with the Winchesters. I don't know if I'll fall head over heels in love with the show though, and I'm still wary (I get like that with pimped shows sometimes, which is horrible, but... ::points to VM's awesome S1, then the so-so S2:: And then the love went awaaay::) Goes without being behind a cut because it's odd and funny: I remember reading two fics in this fandom, one involved bodyswitching, the other genderswitch and that? Was what piqued my original interest in watching the show. Reading that line from the recent interview where they said it could be a good, funny idea to have them switch next year? TOTALLY ANOTHER REASON. Lesson learned: if you want to pimp the nifty, show ignited the weird kink. Wincest is tame, people, you gotta bring out the big, big guns.

I also watched Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure, which is noted because it's been years since I've seen it and it was hilarious. (So tempting to say something they would, but it's bad enough I remember doing the wiggling fingers thing back in high school. Okay, not their air guitar hand thing, but wiggling fingers from the Weasel in Encino Man. You know what I'm talking about. YOU DO. DON'T DENY IT.)

In between those, there has been the tugging of my brain and heart from Jim Halpert, Peter Petrelli, and Ranma Saotome. TV. TV, you are not supposed to tug me around like this. Episodes and schedules. Okay, not schedules when catching up, but.. argh. Responsibility to remember to watch, then?
