In my experience, the world is not kind to artists (financially especially), with a particular emphasis on visual artists. I see so many people looking for free or cheap art for their albums, decorate their houses, paint their murals, illustrate their childrens books for "exposure." Exposure is nice, but it's hard on us- especially now. I was completely floored when I was able to sell 2 small paintings. The money wasn't much, but the fact that I can say I have sold work is exhilarating. The only thing I can think of is to try to put up fliers advertising yourself. Maybe hand make some small business cards with your email address and hope something sticks.
By the way, what school did you end up at? MICA? I'm still figuring out where I want to transfer to myself.

ccbc, its a community college around here, not intending mica just due to the general price of it, but overall i was aiming at umbc in the end for my final goal.
