I feel like I am intellectually losing it lately. I go to school and sit through 4 2-hour classes that are tightly packed into the same day. Information is thrown at me non-stop and I have lost the capacity to store it or do something useful with it. Public Opinion, Indian History, American Legal History, Macroeconomics. All things that I either know nothing about or care nothing about.
I don't care how the political poller people go about polling people. This sort of thing is a subject I might look into on my own before an election just to feel educated about the process, but to spend a whole quarter learning about the details involved seems like overkill to me. This class better turn out to be an easy A. If not, I will be very frustrated.
The History of Islam in India is an interesting subject of which I know nothing about. I wish that my professor would organize his outlines a little more and give us some sort of historical context for the events he describes. Next Monday I have a quiz in this class, and I feel like the only things I've really learned are that the Ghaznavids were a brutal people who came to the Sind, and the first couple letters of the Persian alphabet (which we will not be teated over). I have to read this huge book of wisdom of a sufi shaqk (don't know if that is spelled correctly) and write a paper on it due relatively soon...
My Legal History class is fun. The professor is really funny. He expresses his opinions in a very Ellwoodish way, even though his opinions definately differ from mr. Ellwood. It is very amusing. But, once again, I know absolutely nothing about law... and I feel embarassingly ignorant about the founding of this country. I guess this is a good opportunity to learn!
Economics is just plain BORING! How can anyone sit through this class? Why does economics exist? We spent 2 hours talking about Aggragate Supply and Demand and making little graphs then discussing what would make the supply and demand curves shift. I'm thinking of maybe not going to this class except on test days or to turn in homework.
I need to do brain exercises... like some calculus or algebra problems.
How did I take 8 classes at once in high school? How?!
