To the dentist part two

Okay he took control of my cheek and the corner of my mouth doesn't work properly. It's zombiefied.

And that's about it.

No horror stories about pain, huge needles and drills that reverberate your nerves and skull with excruciating agony. Even the sort of story from people that the numbing shots hurt the most out of the whole deal, not for me. I was prepared for the kind of sting you get from having blood taken and then some searing pain from the numbing agent entering your gums but I found myself wondering if he was in yet.

I got two numbing shots and that was the easy bit. After that he opened up my pristine looking molar surface to expose the mess underneath where the two molars met and took a picture for me. For some this is where they look away but I found it rather interesting.

Then I imagine he was cleaning it and drilling away bad bits which was not pleasant. No pain but at one point he was using this rather crude drill I think (but I was numbed so what do I know) and that was the bit I felt in my skull. On discomfort scale that was kind of like the cleaning I had last time along the gumline in bits. Not something I would want to go on for 5 min but discomfort is not pain.

I did talk to the dentist and his assistant about the pain factor and they mentioned that for people who are very scared anything hurts, even just looking at it. And many people ofcourse go to the dentist when they are in pain already. In my case he asked again if I hadn't felt anything since my last visit and when I said nopes he commented that I may already be used to a certain level of discomfort in general.

Or my mouth is just numb by nature? Though that doesn't make much sense as I can feel when I have a bit of food stuck between my teeth just fine and even numbed up I could feel things along my gums. If my cheek and mouth weren't so weird now I wouldn't even have been able to tell I was under any drugs because I felt everything.

Maybe I'll get some pain later but the dentist only mentioned I may be sensitive to hot and cold now. But I was already so I don't know if that will get worse or stay the same. I apparently have lots of cavities and at least two were deep so how much worse will the fillings feel?

He did take a long time to fill the damage between two molars, nearly an hour. I hope the other ones will take less time, this one was in a difficult spot and required layers of filling because it was so deep. It felt really really long but in such a uncomfortable state I thought it may have been 15 min that my mind stretched out. The filling itself and drying with the special light was kind of relaxing though, if it weren't for the keeping my mouth open as much as I could.

It must have looked horribly unflattering but I haven't been drooling yet, just don't ask me to speak eloquently...
