Shaping up Week umpteen...

(7 kilos=15,4 pounds)

I started around the end of February but with moving and other things going on I haven't been trying very hard for all that time. Mostly loosing a few kilos here and there inbetween eating packets of cookies and bars of chocolate at the thought of cutting back. It's just the way it goes sometimes and I don't worry about that.

A little while back I decided to get a bit more serious about it though, there is little to distract me and I am so tired of looking like the worst version of myself and not fitting into my old clothes. It's just true that some people carry a few extra pounds very well but sadly I'm not one of those people.

I've been eating more vegetables and protein and reducing the amount of carbohydrates I eat. No sugar or as little as possible and adjusted portions. I've not been going extreme I still eat lots of oils and fats. They keep you feeling full and hell just make things taste good. I honestly feel like I'm not starving myself and am eating very tasty things. I have no clue how anyone could keep up the shakes and fake food things, I already have trouble with prepacked foods if they are full fat.

With that and drinking lots of water (very good tip!) and green tea I lost quite well until I reached a so called weightloss plateau. You do what you always did yet the scales keep saying the same number. That is so bad for your motivation. There are a few ways to combat that. Here are some articles giving tips. Link1, link2, link3

My regiment didn't include working out yet so that was the obvious choice to get going again. I found work out tapes OL and have been doing those for a while, going from 30 min to a full hour by combining things. It focuses on cardio things mostly. I've written about what I found at weight_slasher, here. That may be a good place to pick up links if you can use a little shaping up yourself.

A big inspiration for that is that 1kg of fat is approximately 3 x the size of 1kg of muscle! Plus the obvious burning extra calories even at rest. I think my body was/is far too weak even with my tendency to build muscle fast. After sitting on my butt so much I am really in need of shape.

It paid off for me as I am lighter now than I have been in ages, I fit back in some old pants and shirts and I broke through that weight plateau! YaY I have a family reunion in a few months and I want to be totally photogenic for once, the pictures of me at family parties look terrible! I'm the blob.

I am not sure of how much I can loose, that depends on my body. Every kilo lost is called yay but there are a few marked numbers. My first was getting to a healthy range for my BMI (Body Mass Index). That is an indication for a healthy weight for your height. Mine is healthy now. The next goal was getting below the 62 I was stuck at for so long, which has happened now. My new goal is getting below 60, 59 is my "regular weight" which is what I would call acceptable.

The 57 on my weight loss ticker is what I would call a good weight. If I get there I will most likely adjust my weight ticker for a new lower goal. Anything below 57 is great, 53 is about the lowest I have been at my height but I was never "in shape" and had flab I had to hide. So it will be interesting to find out what I look like when I get there sometimes the thought makes me a little nervous even. But I guess if you get there slow enough you get used to it.
