Huh. Looks like this thing still exists.

Well, imagine that.

Seems like, lately, I've been losing track of ... well, everything. I've let work take over most of my life. I'm still relatively current on the happenings in my immediate family , but that's about it. I talked to my mother ... probably this week. I think I had to, to confirm some details of our upcoming weekend trip to meet my folks at my little sister's house. Had to talk to her, as well.

Haven't talked to my older sister in ... way too long. Last time was probably when the wife and C were gone, as I had to find out what her newest child is gonna be (boy, if anybody cares).

So, then, I was thinking about the last time I talked to anybody outside of family and work.

Turns out, I really can't remember. As I look through my email, I saw that I had an email over a month ago announcing a major life event.

I'd read it when it arrived. Even showed the pics to my wife. But I didn't respond. Still hadn't, until tonight. That, of course, is only the most recent (and egregious) case. I appear to have ignored all of my friends for far and away too long.

I could, I suppose, make lots of excuses. Too many email messages coming to that account, trying to sell the house, busy time at the office, blah blah blah.

At the end of the day, I've just let my priorities ... well, vanish. Work is everything, to be trumped only by home crises. And not always then.

So, it's time to change. While my better half might not agree (or even have noticed, for that matter), I have been trying to shift my focus away from work. Now, I'm going to attempt to extend that to the friends who (hopefully) haven't forgotten me.

It'll start with my oldest and dearest, and move slowly through the "list" until I've at the very least found out what the hell everybody's up to, and hopefully have established regular communications with them all.

If you don't hear from me, you can draw one of two conclusions : either I don't like you, or I've suffered a temporary setback, and let work consume my life yet again.

Oh, and livejournal ... well, let's face it. This place'll still get relegated to damned near the bottom of my list.

Right above documentation. (If you don't get that one, ask a SysAd.)
