Jen says- so today cait and i went to DC to look at art shows and stuff. As we crossed the mall, we couldn't help but notice the abundance of soldiers in uniform and um...tanks. apparently the military was holding some sort of pubic celebration. there was camoflauge face painting and the kids were told to play in the tanks and missile launcher thingies.
it was quite an image, in front of a chain-link, barbed-wrie topped fence, stood a single protester, holding a sign proclaiming "THIS MACHINE KILLS INNOCENT PEOPLE." Behind the fence several of the above mentioned tanks and missile laucher thingies were parked, children scrambling all over them. Behind it all was the U.S. Capitol building. Cait and I talked to the protestor for a while and went to the Hirshhorn.
When we came out, the children were gone, and the soldiers were giving the protestor a hard time. Cait and I made our own sign and stood with him. A few minutes after we arrived a police car parked in front of us. In that time the soldiers and a few passers-by told us that the soldiers were protecting our rights, most importantly our right to do what we were doing. we agreed but didn't leave until we mutually agreed it was time to go home. When Toric left, the police car left, and as cait and i walked back to the car, the soldiers started taughting and verbally harrassing us. it was funny how they forgot that they were supposed to be protecting our rights, not infringing on them.

Cait says- The soldiers yelled " hey ladies where you going? Come on back girls, we don't bite." and probably other shit. It was pathetic. Jen took a bunch of pictures too. and um the soldiers and random people they like weren't even polite they just said stuff. One guy yelled, "you guys are dorks"--which is actually really lame coz he was like a 40 yr. old dude calling a bunch of kids "dorks". But yeah...we basically didn't go back when the soldiers called us because obviously thats what they wanted and I didn't wanna give them the satisfaction. It made Jen really upset afterwards.
The End.

Love
Jen and Cait
