Many things!

So I had my first meeting with my Little Sister, Kenisha, last night! It went really well! We met at her school, which was a REALLY nice school. We had a small meeting with her, myself, her mom and our match counselor. Just went over the rules and stuff like that. Her mom is nice, and seemed pretty enthused about the whole thing.

Kenisha is ADORABLE and super smart. Her fav subjects are reading and math! She was shy at first, but then she warmed up pretty quick. We went to the park and played on the playground, then applebees and got a appetizer sampler. Then we ran to Walgreens so I could get a calculator and batteries and we picked out some ice cream. Then we went to Target to pick out some coloring books to keep at my place. So by then it was about 7:30 so I took her home, but her mom didn't pickup the phone when we tried to get into the apartment building (front entry is locked), so that was a little stressful. I took her back to my place and we colored and she met everyone (she liked all the animals). After a while I finally got ahold of her mom and I took her home around 8:30.

So we have plans for me to come to her school to have lunch and meet her teacher not THIS Friday, but next, then on the 16th I am taking her to The Magic House (children s museum). The next visit will be her coming over and we can make lunch, cookies and paint (she mentioned she wanted to paint the next time she came over) also play some games (like Sorry or something). So I feel really good about it! We talked really well and got a long great. She grabbed hold of my hand in the Target parking lot. She said thank you. It was fun! So good time :D

In other news, I took my first Chem exam today. It WAS ten questions, but there were 4 or so sub questions in each one, which made me happy. I think i did pretty well. I know I missed a couple things, like I mixed up the meaning of two definitions (Exothermic and endothermic). I was thinking of it as were the heat is going TO not where it is coming FROM. So I am pretty sure I got that one wrong, which totally sucks because it was 10 points. And then I didn't use IS words for the scientific method, so I am not sure how many points I will get off for that. And then I missed one other one. I think I have a fighting chance for a B. I will be EXTREMELY upset if I get a C, esp because I understand everything (esp after thinking about those 2 definitions) and I even am pretty sure I got the math right, I double checked things and talked to people after class.

I have just been doing internal comforting and telling myself this ONE test will not ruin my teaching degree. I understand the math which is AWESOME and I have worked really hard. and will keep working hard, probably harder. But I am ok. I just want to know how I did. I am hoping he posts the grades this weekend on Blackboard so I don't have to wait until class on Monday. I hope he at least gets it done by then!! He has taken a while to get things back to us.

But I feel pretty good about it. I am remaining calm. its over, there is nothing I can do to fix it. So, I am ok. Just breathing in and out, and honestly being really proud of myself for understanding the math and doing it right.

I have been getting homework done. Got the next two prelabs done and start memorizing the periodic table. Have the first two columns symbols and spelling memorized. I guess I could read chapter 4. Sigh. I should. I also need to print out the power points and such.

Feels good to be ontop of things. Win!
