[Merlin]: The Force (Arthur/Merlin, Star Wars, anger, pain/hurt, implied wall shoving, PG, 1/1)ladyknightankaApril 16 2012, 00:08:21 UTC
I'd like to precursor this by saying I haven't watched Star Wars in a while and a lot of acts are more implied than apparent, but I hope it's not TOO screwy...
-
Arthur stands prone, eyes on Merlin, who has his back against a wall and his knees pulled up to his chest. There's blood on his robes, hidden by the defensive pose.
“Y-you're an idiot,” Arthur finally says. He hates the way he his voice ellipses into a stammer. He clears his throat to avoid it hence.
Merlin squints up at him, vivid blue eyes foggy like sapphires dropped in the sands of Tatooine, veined with exhaustion. “I was protecting you,” he answers, slow and enunciated, as if Arthur's a child or an insentient creature, as if Arthur's the idiot between them, but Arthur's not.
Arthur isn't the one who lied about being a Jedi; Arthur isn't the one who pushed the spoiled prince he was protecting, the prince who had purposefully instigated trouble to irritate him, out of the way so he could engage in a conflict with the Sith Lord trying to assassinate aforementioned prince; Arthur's not the one who got himself stabbed.
“It's actually the force choke that hurt more,” Merlin says, as if he read Arthur's mind. He probably did. Arthur glowers at him, but when Merlin cranes his neck back to expose fresh bruises, he can't help looking away. An acrid taste builds in his mouth. It's hard to believe Morganna, his own sister would do this. “Hey,” Merlin says, and kicks his leg out to touch Arthur's boot; it stays there, solid against Arthur's ankle. “It's not your fault. You're a clod-pole, yes, but it's your father who abhorred Jedi and it's Morganna who succumbed to the dark side.”
“Shut up, Merlin.” Arthur allows himself a slight smirk when Merlin's jaw snaps shut, but kneels to help Merlin stand, pushing him back into the wall to steady him. Merlin flinches, hands over his wound, and Arthur remains pressed against him a moment, staring into Merlin's cloudy eyes. “Let's get you to Gauis, idiot.”
“Yes, your majesty clod-pole,” Merlin replies, but if he's strong enough to snark after fending Morganna off, Arthur supposes he's all right and that's really all that matters. He hooks Merlin's arm over his shoulder and helps him walk. They continue in silence for what feels like galaxies, before Merlin says, “You're not, you know - like the emperor, that is, or Morganna. You'll change things when you rule. I know it. You'll change the whole universe.”
A million responses flick through Arthur's mind, but he bites his lip to reign them in. When he speaks, it's only to say, “Stop reading my mind,” but he thinks Merlin can hear the gratefulness in his tone, if not his thoughts. They get to Gauis's quarters without further distraction.

UM, EXCUSE ME HOW DID YOU KNOW (SECRET!)JEDI!MERLIN IS MY FAVORITE EVER? Because (secret!)Jedi!Merlin is my favorite ever. And to make it better, Merlin is in massive amounts of pain. And to make that better, it's from being strangled, an act that I sadly cut this round.
YOU ARE WONDERFUL. ILU.
(And Morgana Force-choking Merlin is not something I knew I needed until now. HNG.)

I MUST HAVE READ YOUR MIND. :O
I'm so glad you liked it, bb. I wanted to throw in all the minutiae, with the actual battle and Merlin shoving Arthur into a wall to protect him and maybe a space diner, but I just didn't have time. XD
