Adventure is just bad planning

"How does this always happen? Do you have some sort of beacon coming from you that says 'look at me, I'm a potential strange threat, come kill me!' because it really does feel like it," the Master growled in annoyance as the two of them hide behind a nearby building to avoid the angry people that had been following them. Not exactly out of the norm ( Read more... )

The Doctor's back was pressed against the wall as he caught his breath and glanced around their surroundings. The Master was right about at least one thing, there was no sign or any notification what-so-ever about being on holy grounds. That would've been nice to know before they strolled upon it and apparently desecrated the place. If asked, it was the Master's fault.

"We came from the east, yeah? So... the TARDIS is back southwards a few kilometers that way..." But he didn't get a chance to finish his thought as they had been spotted and once again they were running.

There was a large saloon-looking building that the Doctor pointed to, "Try hiding in there!" Maybe it'll be full enough for them with the evening crowd. Maybe. It was worth a shot!

[ooc: fun story: My dad actually did this on a family vacation, stepped into a Native American "healing vortex" or some such (I was probably 5 at the time) and the locals were PISSED. They had to have a cleansing ceremony and everything because my dad messed it up, apparently. When I ( ... )

Oh fantastic, as if being accused of ruining holy ground wasn't bad enough, now they actually had to hang out in a saloon? Really? No matter where they went and what they did, they were going to stand out. They were the only fleshy pink things in strange human clothes, blending in was probably unlikely, they had a startling lack of tourism ... perhaps they killed all their tourists? It didn't seem to far fetched, it was very easy to walk on holy ground and get scarified it seemed.

"Oh great, we're going to be killed. And it's all your fault. And their fault. I mean really if you have sacred ground, you should label it. For everyones sake, I mean how to they avoid losing it?" the Master ranted as they slipped into the saloon and kept to the sides of the room. They really didn't blend in at all but the master just tried his best to look comfortable.

They might not notice if they looked like they belonged. "We're never going to be able to get back with that crowd outside, you know that right?"

[OOC: Oh that is seriously hilarious! ( ... )

"I don't see you volunteering any ideas, so stop complaining!" The Doctor snapped as they stayed close to the edges of the room as they pushed through the crowd.

They did stand out, that's true, but at this time, they needed to be able to hide as best as they could and be in a crowd. Crowds were good.

"No, but maybe we can escape the back or sneak into another building through the alley systems... Now move!"

The Master practically tripped over himself and some other poor sod who was unlucky enough to be leaning on the wall they were practically shuffling up. The crowd were slowly starting to see something was up when the man-thingy he'd into started to yell abuse at him in a language he couldn't quite understand. Or perhaps it was the accent, who knew?

"Rassilon sake!" the Master cursed as he took off rather swiftly towards the back of the door, leaving the Doctor to make his own way as he took off running.

Course the Master was less well practise so while in his head, he was a swift runner... in reality, less so. Not exactly a sprinter but hey, it got him outside safely! For now anyway.

"Only you would say that!" The Doctor spoke through a forced gritted smile.

Turning back to the beasties, "That's it! Exciting! Ohhh, dear! I think I left some... over there!" He threw his last two pennies as far as he could before grabbing the Master's shirtsleeve and taking off down the opposite direction.

Unfortunately, the Doctor's plan didn't go as well as he planned as he glanced over his shoulder. "Rather. Persistent!" He really thought that'd work this time.

Oh Damn, they really running at them. The Master picked up speed and pulled out the last thing in his pocket, a box of mints, and lobbed the, at the leaders head. It slowed them down for a second but it seemed as though they were very determined to get their treasure that the Doctor had bee foolish enough to promise.

"You better have a back up plan if we get caught!"

He didn't want to be sacrificed to some primitive God because the Doctor was an idiot and stepped on the holy ground. Or that was his opinion anyway! "Run faster!"

"I'm trying!"

They skidded around the corner of a building, unfortunately back into the main road. "TARDIS. About 2 Kilometers. West." He huffed as he tried to keep stride, knowing if they could just make it...

And then, without seeing it even happen, the Doctor fell. He couldn't move his legs and realized that the beasties were taking the wild-west theme a little too far (you thought the saloon with the dueling pianos earlier were bad) by being actually lassoed like a calf. Landing face first, scraping his cheek, he clawed at the ground. "NO! STOP!"

Teeth gritted as the ropes around his legs tightened as they reeled him backwards towards them, as he continued to claw and try to fight them off until another rope flew around his head and tightened around his arms, stopping them.

"Don't just stand there, RUN!" He didn't want the Master to be caught either, given at this moment in time he was the only one to (potentially) save him. He was ahead of the Doctor, and further out of range of their ropes.

Well that was not something you saw everyday, the Doctor lassoed and tied up like a calf. It was both hilarious and terrifying. He would decided which one came out on top depending on his he escaped or ended up in the same situation as his fallen friend.

"No, no, no, no! Don't you dare!" the Master ordered as they looked at him, ropes at the ready. Oh shit!

He didn't even need the Doctors prompting, he just whipped off to get to the TARDIS, only narrowly dodging the rope aimed at him.

Staggering, he managed to allude most their attempts at catching him until, finally, he seemed to lose them over a hill. Or so he hoped. Either way, he just kept moving till that wonderful blue box was in sight.
