Now, on That Essay (which, I’ve decided is its new official title), I got a lot of responses where people pointed out that Uhura’s discovery of the Romulan signal is a Very Important Aspect of Reboot’

OT-ish: I hate recasting. I haven't seen any Saavik scenes, so I can't say how I feel about that decision, but in other instances of it I get really irritated. Probably the worst one for me was with Vivian's character on Fresh Prince. Janet Hubert did such a good job. When they cast Daphne Maxwell Reid it seemed like the whole character changed. The same happened in Roseanne with Becky, but they addressed the recasting a few times (and it was hilarious when they did ^.^). Not to mention they switched between the two actresses every now and then. Oh, I love that show *wishes it was still on nick@nite*

I kinda think Saavik/Chekov might be a very interesting pairing.
They recast the mom on Family Matters, too, and they completely cut the younger daughter out, pretending she never existed.
Saavik will always live in my headcannon.
I never watched Fresh Prince (My dad didn't like him 'caused he was a rapper) but I remember the drastic casting changes they made on the Jeff Foxworthy Show
And the Becky Conner one always made me giggle, 'cause when the original actress came back, they referenced it a bunch. Roseanne was possibly my favorite sitcom from the 90s. Not at the time, at the time I loved FUll House and Who's the Boss and Step by Step, and all the others, but as an adult Roseanne is my favorite.

There are so many recastings and "Where'd so-and-so go?" that it makes my head spin. Fresh Prince has it's moments of both awesome and fail, but I like it overall. Because he was a rapper, you say? He's probably one of the least offensive musical artists ever, let alone rappers lol ^.^
Anyway, the fic is the last part of a three part series by spirktrekker42 called The T'hyla Chronicles. You can find it archived here: The T'hy'la Chronicles, as well as on her LJ. TBH, I haven't read it yet (lazy!), so I'm not sure how it goes. I really want to read it, though!
