A/N: Happy K/S Valentine! I wrote the fic to go along with the picture, to give it some more background. I haven't drawn anything in quite some time, but I hope everyone likes it. :D

Spock remembered the seemingly insignificant things his father used to do for his mother. He would go out of his way to come home with her after working, even though it would have been faster for them to go home separately. When he brought Spock various plants to dissect, he always saved a single flower for Amanda. There were also the rare days when he’d have no appointments, and he’d take them out for a midday meal or excursion. Prior to his father telling him the truth about his feelings, Spock never gave these moments a second thought. Now, he knew why Sarek indulged in those illogical human traditions.
The poem wasn’t great art, by any means, and Spock could barely believe he’d taken the time to write it, but the smile that lit up Jim’s face during a quiet (Jim would say “boring”) alpha shift was well worth it.
