Yesterday we went on a tour of the English countryside and saw Hampton Court Castle (Henry VIII stole it from the Catholic Church and kings/queens lived there during the 16th-18th centuries), Stonehenge, and Bath. It was a lovely day, 65 degrees and sunny and perfect for walking around and being touristy.
Today I worked on my Media paper (kind of…), prepared my theatre presentation (my play is a Soviet political play banned under the reign of Stalin…leave it to me to pick that play, out of all the plays we went to see), and listened to amazing music. I also got a ticket to see Equus this weekend; it wasn’t that expensive, though I did get restricted view, but that’s ok. Although everyone else in London is going to see the play in order to see HP nuded out, I promise I am going because it is supposed to be an incredibly amazing psychological drama. However, the bragging rights I will acquire may have helped my decision. But only a little, tiny, insignificant bit.
I have less than three weeks before I return to the States and I have not yet seen all of the plays I want to see!! And I have like 6 papers and presentations due. Um, gross. Who decided that was a good idea? I decided to get creative on my paper and answer the boring questions of “what is public broadcasting” and “what is the BBC” by discussing it’s relations with music and the music industry= I get to talk about The Clash and The Sex Pistols and The Beatles in my paper. Hopefully Justin will see this as a fresh and creative approach and not dock points for me leaving out other stuff, like the news and television.
Rocky Horror is playing here next week. The tickets are only 15 pounds. I want to goooooo. I absolutely must find someone to drag along, because seeing Rocky Horror live is one of my goals in life.
ACL tickets are going to go on sale soon. Hopefully I will be one of the lucky few who gets to buy them for $50 instead of $150. I am praying to Flying Spaghetti Monster: please reach out with your Noodly Appendage and give the ACL people my name. Please, please, please FSM.
We’ll see how that works out. Although I will miss London itself, I am super excited to come home and see all my lovelies. This summer looks to be pretty freaking amazing, with a Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, road trips, possibly flying to Chicago to visit my wife (surprise!), driving my own car, hiking/biking/canoeing, and vegetarian feasts of delight. Plus Texas weather; who doesn’t miss that?!
Everybody should listen to Jimi Hendrix’s guitar playing, because there is nothing more incredible. There is no more appropriate name for his band than The Jimi Hendrix Experience, because listening to his music truly is an experience. Incredible.
Tonight's menu consists of cider and mushroom risotto. Mmmm risottoooooooooo
