Tutti abbiamo una ferita segreta
per riscattare la quale combattiamo
(Italo Calvino)
Premise (is that an English word or did my dumb mind just make it up?):
Italy has a very bad habit: cool movies always come out later than in UK or USA. Guess we share this fault with other countries, but it's something that really annoys me...
For example, Wall E had just come out in our theatres when my Californian sister told me they had it in DVD already. *snorts*
Similar thing with the episodes of The Lord of the Rings:
official American release --> December;
Italian release --> January.
That wait was NIGHTMARE, believe me.
Anyway, my only source of happiness, in these loooong waiting-periods, are trailers and reviews from people who's seen movies I'm interested in.
My last discoveries are the trailers of Revolutionary Road and The Reader, both with the amazing Kate Winslet... how I love that woman! She's got this "everyday-housewife" kind of charm and beauty that I absolutely adore!
--> watch The Holiday for references (her character was ten thousand times better than the character played by Cameron Diaz)
So: here are the links... if you're lucky enough to watch these movies before me... let me know if they're good, please!
