This is my own design.  They are shorter, ankle socks.  Feel free to use the pattern for personal use.

I used size 5 needles (US) and woolease yarn.

pattern is a chevron
row 1:  *k1, yo, k4, k2tog, Ld, k4, yo*, k1
row 2:  k across

=Ld= k in front, k next stitch in back and then k those 2 stitches together

cast on  40 stitches (I did 20, 10, 10)
knit one row
purl one row
knit one row
purl one row

knit 16 rows of chevron

start your heel flap on the 20 stitch needle
(sl 1, k1) across
next row sl 1, purl across
repeat these rows for a total of 20 rows

turn heel as follows:
sl 1, k 11, skp, turn
sl 1, p 6, p2tog, turn
sl 1, k 6, skp, turn

repeat the last two rows until you have 8 stitches left

knit across heel stitches and pick up 11 stitches alone the side, knit across instep, pick up 11 stitches on other side.  knit 4 of the stitches off of the heel needle.  add remaining 4 stitches to the other needle.

knit one row around;  the back of the heel is your start.

gusset decreases:
decrease every other row by knitting to the end of needle one and when there are three stitches left, skp, k 1.  knit across instep, and then on needle three, k1, k2tog and knit remaining stitches.
knit around the next row.

repeat these rows 5 times.

just knit around for the foot.  I did 30 rows and I wear a size 9.

toe:
decrease row knit to last three stitches on needle one and skp, k1
needle two: k1, k2tog knit across to last three stitches, skp, k1
needle three:  k1, k2tog and knit across

knit 2 rows around
