Pain's Universe Part 11

Germany had avoided speaking to him all week. Today Prussia was going to get some answers.  He crept up the stairs, jumping over the 3rd step-it was the one that always squeaked- and made his way to Germany's bedroom. The door was closed and locked as Prussia soon found out. Prussia thought for a minute and then snapped his fingers and smiled. I'll break in! However, his face fell as he realized that Germany had confiscated his lock-picks a while back and he had yet to get new ones.  Growling, he banged on the door.

"West if you don't open this door right now, then I swear by Old Fritz* I'll-" Just then, the phone rang.  Prussia cursed, threw a glare at the door and then hurried to pick up the phone. It was England.

"You'd better come over. " England said when Prussia picked it up. Prussia couldn't glean anything from England's tone.

"Why? What'd you find out?"

"It's better if I tell you in person." England said, tone slightly strained. "Meet me at my house in half an hour*."

Prussia glanced at the stairs. No movement. "I'll be there." He hung up, wrote a short note to Germany, grabbed his coat and left the house. He would get there just in time to catch the ferry.

Once the door had shut, the bedroom door opened and Germany stumbled out. He limped into the bathroom and shut the door. There were several galaxies of pain fusing into each other and he knew it was only going to get worse.  I don't think I can take much more of this.  Germany staggered over to the sink and coughed into it. Phlegm and a little bit of blood appeared in the sink.

"...this is new…" He took a shaky breath; something was stabbing at his lungs and breathing was like swimming though shards of glass.  Quickly, he opened the bathroom cabinet and took out a bottle of the strongest painkillers they had. The bottle was nearly empty. He popped the cap and swallowed them dry.

"Maybe I should tell him?" He mumbled at the mirror.  For a brief, dizzying, moment, he thought he could feel the entirety of the universe and he thought he was going to shatter. Then the mirror snapped into place. I need to lie down.

Half an hour later, Prussia was standing on England's doorstep. He rang the doorbell with a shaking hand. England opened it and gestured for him to come inside.

"We'll talk in the kitchen."

"I  hope your cooking isn't the answer," Prussia tried to joke.  England shook his head.

"If only it were that easy." he muttered. He turned and led the way to the kitchen.

Norway was waiting for them with a bored look on his face.

"I asked him for help." England said, at little defensive, before Prussia could open his mouth.

Prussia gritted his teeth. "Just explain already." England gestured for him to sit down.

"It's better if you sit down for this." Prussia threw himself into a chair.

"Get on with it."

England told him.

*Headcannon says that Prussia would rarely swear by Old Fritz and by doing so, he's being serious and extremely worried.  Headcannon also says that nations can be where they want to be reasonably fast.
