Procrastinating

I went out for a walk last night on the Municipal Wharf. I've been sick the last three days, and I've spent most of it inside. Therefore, a walk sounded like a good way to get some exercise and fresh air and to relax a little.

As far as I can tell, the wharf in Santa Cruz isn't really used to load or unload cargo. It's used for sea kayaks and whaling tours and the like. It is also used as a platform for sea lions to hang out on and for people to watch them.* But the weirdest thing about the wharf is that it has about 15 restaurants and a giant parking lot.

I mean, if I were going to build a parking lot, the first thing I would require would be some land. When you have land, that makes the parking lot so much easier. But they built a parking lot on top of the ocean. That's weird.

*The sea lions were pretty hilarious last night. There were two groups of them, cuddling/huddling up on a lower dock area. Then one of the sea lions started barking, and then a bunch of them barked back, and then it was a cacophony of sea lion angst.
