So, my new house is about a mile from a chicken processing plant. It's not a big deal, no odor except when we drive right past it, etc.

So, this morning, the boss kindly let me come in late because we were at a job until 11:45 last night -- replacing a server is nasty, complicated business. On my way out, I passed by a chicken sitting on the side of the road opposite from the plant. I cheered it on and drove past, since I was already much later than I should have been.

Well, tonight I come home, and sure enough, my new friend was still sitting there, in the rain. So I scooped her up and she's in a box in my backyard, under the table to protect her from the rain. I just couldn't leave her there... she's so cute, she cluck-chirps when you pet her. She's kinda dirty from having lived in chicken hell all her life, not to mention the rain, so I guess I'm off to find out if you can give chickens baths. Kira loves them, so I suspect there shouldn't be any problems...
