A deep, cathartic revelation:

Having a word document (or two, or three) open in the bottom there makes me log onto LJ faster than you can say "procrastinate".

That, and I'm noticing a couple of very interesting facts about my non-fictional writing.

Ah. So, after a few days - I mean weeks and months because I haven't procrastinated all the past three months I had to do this oh no not me - of stressing over the huge deadline today and dying from the last-minute cramming I did last night, I'm actually left with some free time.
( Only here because I like to type as I think, putting in words all the useless thoughts that pass through my mind, also known to myself as thought-dump )

.... Too late.

I'm in a bit of a slump.

I light the candle and crawl up on my chair in front of my laptop, with my mp3 shoved into my ears. Phantom of the Opera, the musical, songs are playing, because I was in a PotO mood earlier. And I don't seem capable of writing. Or drawing.

Or, y'know, letting my thoughts out in any shape or form. Can't do it.

Forget lack of sleep. Screw the misery of doing homework and studying in the months of summer vacation.

I'm so glad I've decided to take the English Lit course this summer - because yes, giving up my Sundays to read John Donne is happiness itself, and yes, reciting Milton's Paradise Lost at 3 in the morning is my new favourite past time. ( Read more... )
