What a field day for the heat

Um, hello.

So something is kind of burning a hole in my brain about last week's Mad Men. So sorry to waltz in unannounced, but I must speak with you a moment...

Were you bothered by the heavy clicking on the line when Don was on the phone with Glo-Coat?? How did no one in the internet notice this? (or did they? I haven't seen it). Are we that old, that clicking on the phone line in 1965 when there have been G-men in previous eps and California aerospace contracts and beatniks and Betty's husband works for Nelson Rockefeller doesn't mean "wiretap" to anyone watching and posting about Mad Men? (malsperanza? elgoose)? Or am I crazy and that sounded completely normal for a phone call in 1965?

I even started getting paranoid about Meghan. What's her deal? Was she trying to get into Don's office alone? Why is she Canadian? Did she poison Miss Blankenship? (OK, now I'm joking.)

These things creeping up - Greg in Vietnam, Betty's Republican dream house, marijuana and politics and the emergence of slums in the heart of Manhattan and above all POOR SALLY who is going to run away in the Summer of Love at about age 12 and become a heroin addict and get raped and die maybe (god I hope not!!!) - it's making me terribly paranoid. Maybe a bit TOO paranoid. :)

ETA: It also occurs to me that Henry, having heard that the FBI was looking into Don anyway, might have used connections to have him bugged in anticipation of Rockefeller's run for President - or, in ref to his line about "some day they may be asking you questions on my behalf," possibly his own ambitions to run for public office. He wouldn't want Don to embarrass him, aside from personal malice/curiosity.

And how have you been lately? Is it time for Doctor Who yet? Did you see Dreamwidth on the xkcd map?
