[ Oh, everyone surely missed his beautiful voice or something like that. Since he's so awesome at not being annoying. There's been a lot going on. Luceti is in a bit of a state to see. But don't worry, fair people; Papa Smurf here knows exactly what the place needs. And if he happens to be broadcasting from in front of a man-sized poster of the ( Read more... )

[Hughes always knows how to inspire confidence in people, he really does :| Edward knows better than to comment directly on the journal itself, so he'll keep his mouth shut. Instead, if Hughes happens to go out in the backyard, he'll find Edward clearing out an area in the grass big enough for the transmutation circle to be made.]

[ Well, he does enjoy getting outdoors and popping up around people. Not operating entirely in stealth mode here, though, because he's just so courteous. ]

You never think you'll be glad to have a house with a yard relatively free of trees.

If we had any, I could've just moved them anyway.

[Not that he isn't grateful that they don't have any- Luceti has made him notice how much more effort transmutation takes, so he's trying to conserve his energy for tomorrow. Which is why he's found himself a steel rod to scratch the circle into the rock surface he's managed to free up beneath the grass, rather than using his automail or something.]

Thinking of straying out of alchemy and into the lumberjack business, eh? [ Nah, he gets it, you're young, it's totally good to keep your options open. ]

[Pfffft. Why is this man always so full of crack.] Maybe after all that Promised Day business is done. I'll probably need a new job if we win.

[ And... genuinely curious. ] Do you think so?

I'm already a fugitive of the military, unless that damn colonel manages to become Fuhrer and change things. Besides, I only became a State Alchemist to help me and Al get our bodies back. Once we manage to do that, I can say goodbye to that kind of life.

You can't really argue when it gets put like that. [ Too young to be in the military anyway.

Might be nice to see Ed do something less... well, less. ]

I'll probably just go back to being a regular alchemist, anyway. It's supposed to be for the people, so...

[Not exactly as enriching to his wallet, but he can live without that. He owes everyone that much, after all he's them through.]

If you're making it a career of choice, you could try looking happier for it. [ Advice from the busybody, free of charge and being a bit of an ass. When's it not a good time? ]

Wh- I'm not unhappy about it! I just... haven't done anything else. It's hard to think about the future when I have everything else to worry about.

I always figured that the worrying had to do with plans for the future. Not that I'd say it's a bad idea to be more concerned with the present.

Well... what about you? We're going to get you back to Amestris somehow. [One way or another- he's decided it, now.] What'll you do?

First, I figured I would fill out a lot of paperwork to get myself legally resurrected.

Aa, and I'd have to come up with some kind of elaborate story about faking my death, so that I don't end up in a lab getting experimented on for the rest of my life.

Of course, once I do that, I'll really need to avoid Roy and the Lieutenant for a few weeks, because I don't want to get maimed.

So I'd lay low and spend some time with Gracia and Elicia. Take a vacation or something.
