Did I like Spring Awakening? HELL TO THE YEAH!!!!!!

So, last night I went to see the AWESOME London production of Spring Awakening at the Novello Theatre, Aldwych, with livejournal's very own cinnamonlyons . I will now flail, swear, squee and wotnot. Massive spoilers below...

Sometimes capslock is not enough.

HOW UNBELIEVABLY FUCKING AWESOME IS THIS SHOW!?!?!?

So, observations:

(1) The songs were incredible, obviously. All the songs. I have some of the soundtrack on MP3 but not all, which is frustrating because I am rubbish. I want to learn all the songs!

(2) The young cast were pretty much all giving their professional debut. Particular shout outs have to go to the people playing Wendla (beautiful, sweet and talented), Martha (broke my heart. My HEART!) and Moritz (TEH HAIR). We had the understudy Melchior who was that bloke from Any Dream Will Do. He was okay, but not as HAWT as the regular Mechi

(3) In a lot of ways, it reminded me of Equus with Daniel Radcliff - adolescents being misunderstood by adults and damaged badly by them.

(4) In a lot of ways, it also reminded me of Jonathan Larson - let's kill off the sympathetic characters, say life is shit, then make everyone hold hands at the end and sing about how amazing life is! I know that's just the Operatic Narrative, but, you know. RENT?

(5) The costumes were AMAZING

(6) The set design, neon lights and TEH  CHAIR was amazing.

(7) I cannot imagine any of this play done in an american accent. It's so european! What was it like in an american accent?

(8) The whole "You are my bruise" thing between the gay boys was the most adorable thing I've ever seen.

(9) Martha's song cut out my heart with a spoon. She CRIED while singing it. She was AWESOME!

(10) WHY NO GUNSHOT when Moritz offs himself?

(11) I am definitely going back to see this again.
