So, today I went to see Les Mis...
Why Les Miserable is wonderful
This was in the Queens theatre in London's West End, which is a dinky little theatre! I had a couple of minor criticisms - the theatre was VERY warm and the lighting design for the production was VERY dark so it made me quite sleepy. And since I know the story and the songs, during the slow numbers I was a bit mmumblezzzzmumble but only in a good way. Also, the girl playing Fantine had a bit of a pants voice.
But OH MY GOD it was amazing. Atmospheric, well performed, well staged, perfectly timed and WONDERFULLY MINDBLOWING. And it got a 100% standing ovation (SUCK IT, WICKED!) which is outstanding considering this is a very VERY long-running musical in London. The Valjean was incredible and the Eponine was just the most amazing singer and actress ever. She totally stood out.
I just want to live in that theatre and see it thirty more times. *hugs Les Mis*
Les Mis holds a special place in my heart because for some reason, everything I get obsessed with reveals itself to have a connection. The League of Gentlemen referenced it (Tubbs wanted to see it in Lundun, Kasey Emma Glass sang Castle On A Cloud as her audition piece). And let's not forget the HIMYM reference! Oh NPH/Jason Segal.
I think we've just all got to admit that Les Mis is actually magical and awesome.
And then afterwards I watch Dollhouse on the train home...
Dollhouse Episode 6
De Witt did my head in. Talk about COLD BLOODED!?!?! I was so relieved to see that Mellie was a sleeper active (and a kick-ass one at that) although I was a bit confused as DeWitt and Dominic had only just referred to her as an innocent member of the public.
This is all getting a bit like the Replicant conspiracy theories in Blade Runner. Is EVERYONE a doll/sleeper active? Is Topher, for example?
But this was an AMAZING episode - making three in a row now. WE LOVE YOU JOSS
I just wish Ballard did it for me. But he doesn't. I don't fancy him one bit. I fancy VICTOR more than I fancy ballard.
And MASSIVE HUGS TO VICTOR! "I think I've done something wrong but no one will tell me what it is!".
