My parents were here from Wednesday to Sunday, and we had sooo much fun!
On Wednesday, we hung around Brookline, and I cooked pasta puttanesca with spaghetti squash (the last healthy meal of the visit). I had to go to a meeting on Thursday, but first my parents and I ate next door at the Top of the Hub and then they strolled around Back Bay while I was "engaged." That night, we reunited with Chris and Kyu and had delish pizza at Otto's.
I kept Kyu home on Friday, and my parents, he and I went downtown. I showed them where I teach, we ate Quincy Market, and then we walked around the harbor. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the New England Aquarium, which is my new favorite aquarium (somehow, I've been to a lot). That evening, Chris and I had a DATE! It's been, oh, eight months. My parents laughed at us because we were gone for just an hour and a half, and Kyu just slept the whole time we were gone.
On Saturday, all of us went to Charlestown to see Bunker Hill and the USS Constitution. I didn't think it would be my cup of tea, but I loved it! We -- including Kyu "Carry Me" Miller -- climbed all 294 steps of the Bunker Hill Monument, and the view was awesome. We then crossed over into the North End to play at a park and then eat some cannoli (in the process, running into one of the five people I know in Boston).
In sum, I'm grateful for such fun-loving parents. They also really bring out the best in Kyu. He was really good while they were here -- HE WALKED! -- and I finally got to do a lot of the things I'd been waiting to do. Mostly food related.
