Happy

Even though I've worked for Northeastern for nearly two months, today was my first day of teaching. It went great! I feel so, so lucky with how this job is working out:

1. My office is in a gorgeous building designed by IM Pei in a fantastic area of Boston (next to the Prudential Center and two blocks from Newbury Street).
2. I teach in the downtown campus in an equally fantastic area (the financial district within sight of the harbor nestled among historic buildings like the Old State House).
3. I worked it out so that I only teach on Mondays and Wednesdays. So... I'm now done for the week.
4. I like my co-workers.
5. I like my students.

In sum, I am very, very happy. I was was walking to the subway today thinking, "For real? This is my life?" All the tourists were gone -- it was raining -- and I kept coming upon awesome buildings, restaurants, and shops. The only thing I felt bad about was that Chris is stranded out in Lexington. He would enjoy working in the city even more than I do. Also, I miss working on the same campus as him! Maybe someday...

P.S. Kyu looked really cute in his jeans today. For years now, he has refused to wear any pants other than sweat pants or shorts but now he is into cargo jeans or pants because he "needs pockets." That kid is the best.
