A question here, since overall, this list has been less than hyperactive as of late ( Read more... )

are shorthand for the basic functions that Jung described and which were then later modified a bit by Myers and Brigg for their models..

Basically, Jung said that there are two perceiving functions--N and S and two judging functions T and F--but that each of these could be either extraverted or introverted--by which he generally meant that they were focused either on the external objective world, or on the internal subjective world.. He also had a bit of a system for how they went.. at least, he started one where whatever your dominant function was--whether perceiving(Ni, Ne, Si, Se) or Judging (Fi, Fe, Ti, Te) it would always be complemented by the opposite kind of function with the opposite mode.. Thus if you had a dominat Ni, then it would be complemented by either Te or Fe ..

In any case, Myers Brigg fleshed out the system and said that everyone has four functions such that they alternate mode (i or e), but that whatever your primary function was, let's say Ni, then your 4th or shadow function would be its opposite Se.. and in between you could either have Fe and Ti as auxilliary and tertiary or Te and Fi as the same..

In any case, there are a bunch of websites on this.. for example here is one..

As an ENFJ, your functional ordering would be:
Primary: Fe
Auxiliary: Ni
Tertiary: Se
Shadow: Ti

anyway.. there are also good pages on this at http://www.teamtechnology.co.uk/mb-types/enfj.htm for all of the types...

anyway.. thanks for the info!

I didn't know that Jung's theory about auxilliary and tertiary functions could be written out like that. Thanks! I'm going to have to start using those terms when I'm trying to explain myself. *g*
