history or philosophy...

A question here, since overall, this list has been less than hyperactive as of late...

How do people here relate to the two disciplines of History and Philosophy.. do you prefer one over the other, like both, like neither, etc???

I ask because I've tended to notice in my conversations with NTP's (especially INTP)'s that they tend to take a more philosophical approach towards questions--i.e. they tend to apply abstract generalized laws--whereas I tend to address questions (usually political/economic/moral issues) using historical kinds of evidence--i.e. more concrete examples situated in time from which I draw out patterns...

These observations have made me wonder if this is due to our different primary functions Ti vs Ni --and if so, then maybe I finally understand the difference between the two (since I haven't found any good descriptions of Ti that don't make it sound like Ni), but since I am only one INTJ.. I didn't want to generalize from just one data point..

Anyone else have such experiences or have any input on your preference for history/philosophy or historical/philosophical modes of argumentation?
