Welcome to Silent Hill

The Excitement of the weekend was the leak in the bathroom. Something was screwy with the apartment upstairs, and their water ended up slowly dripping into our bathroom. Joy. Alas, I only noticed it after it had been going on for at least half a day, so the damage is worse than it would've been if I had been alert and on top of things. Luckily, it happened just above the bathtub, so most of the water dripped there as opposed to on the floor. Thankfully the land-lady quickly took care of the matter by dragging in a plumber well past midnight on Saturday to fix things. Now we're just waiting for the ceiling to dry so she can figure out what repairs are needed.

And I hope she does repair it soon because now it looks, well, creepy. The water in Waterloo is crap, and mix that with the old pipes in this building and it dripped out a dark orange colour. Naturally it stained the white paint a rusty colour and caused the paint in other places there is some major peeling action going on. In one spot there is even a hole in the ceiling, albeit a veeery tiny one, but there regardless. It looks like the sort of hole you expect a centipede to poke its head out of. The shower bar was also a victim of the dripping water, and there are so many new rust stains on top of the bar that I can barely see the shiny metal.

So, in other words, if you look at a section of the ceiling just above the tub and ignore the rest of the bathroom, you'd think Mike and I are living in a horror movie.
