Rainy days and Saturdays

For the winter quarter (Jan-Mar, 2007), I had two papers, and organized a concert, and went on a retreat, and visited friends for a long weekend. I had a great time, but was seriously overbooked, and didn't finish my last paper until about 15 hours before grades were due :-) My classes for this quarter started the next day. I learned a lot, enjoyed writing both papers and would have gotten an A on both had they not been late, and downgraded for that reason. The research I did for both will probably feed into my thesis.

It was a great three months. A lot of what I learned was about me and how I operate. Among other things I realized that I was making graduate school more important than anything else in my life, and consequently, neglecting other things that are also important to me. So this quarter I am taking only one unit for credit, and auditing a two unit class. Classes only one night a week, and only one paper. Plus I will have most of June off from classes and homework.

So I have the next 2 1/2 months to organize a number of things, and I got to start today. It was raining here, and a great day to stay in, clean house, do laundry, and generally start the process of digging out from the disorder that's accumulated the last few months. It's clear I need to get more bookcases!

life, study
