Kaga has some anxiety issues, and he's gotten really unhappy with any circumstance where we leave him overnight. When we got back yesterday, he alternated between aggressively showing us how much he didn't miss us, and demanding our attention. This included climbing into Kevin's lap for a stretch of time. (My lap is normally the preferred one.)
He became *very* displeased when Kevin left for work this morning, and took it out on me: He climbed all over Kevin's desk, knocking things off and getting into trouble; he wouldn't let me hold him or cuddle him, remained indifferent to petting, and refused to purr. He was a complete cranky-butt all morning.
Kevin's back to working half days every weekday, so he came home at noon. Kaga immediately climbed onto the cat trees and started rolling around for attention. When Kevin petted him, he purred and licked Kevin's hand.
Kevin is now taking a nap for a little while. Kaga--who normally chooses to lie at the foot of the bed when humans are sleeping, and often skips human nap-time entirely--is currently curled up right against Kevin's back, looking watchful and purring happily.
Mr. "I'm big and tough and don't need anybody" jock-kitty has definitively turned into a daddy's boy, I think. And it's awfully adorable.
