#1: I...really kind of like this one. It's very pink, but somehow it looks really fantastic? It's definitely different, and it stands out. I like how soft it is as well. Sometimes I struggle with picking out what I like about softer, more pastel icons because I tend to go for brighter icons, but, yeah, I like this. I guess...if I were to offer anything in terms of concrit it might be to highlight more specifically where you want the eye to look? Usually the eye tends to wander toward the lightest part of the icon (so the right hand side; her hair), and I actually think the coloring on her face is really interesting. You could probably choose a very subtle light texture, desaturate it, and set it on soft light/screen/something else nifty to change the flow of light and shift it more toward her face. Or don't even bother with light textures, and just use brushes to create your own light texture. Unfortunately the link I'm about to give you goes to a locked community, but this tutorial pretty much details what I mean about brushing to ( ... )

Thanks so much for such detailed feedback! :) For #2, I agree it is sort of dark. My old style was lots of dark coloring and I'm trying to get into more brighter stuff and am finding it pretty hard after iconning most things dark. But I'm definitely trying to work on that. I did try center cropping that cap but I couldn't get it to look how I wanted to and ended up giving up lol.

Okay, hopefully traffic will pick up by tomorrow night because, you guys, I am ready to get my concrit on! In the meantime, I have two icons I'm waffling about that I would lovelovelove to get some feedback on:

Haha, I think you did fine for your first time! Thank you very much for doing my the honor. :D

#1: Regarding the centering of images, I totally see what you mean. It was cropped from something larger so it wasn't a problem until it got smaller, haha. I think, when I was making it, I was thinking that even though Castiel's wings take up most of the image, Castiel himself is sitting on the righthand side of the icon. So there was a balance for me. I think I might go in and fill the smudged space around Anna up and see if that makes any difference in the balance of the icon.

#2: You know...it might be all the yellow's fault. Now that you point it out it seems so out of place. I'll give that a go and see what happens.

Thank you!

For #1, the image quality looks great and I love the contrasting color scheme. The issue I have is the same as the person above me. Anna's face looks too bright and I think the same for Castiel's body. My eye immediately goes to look at his shirt because of the extreme brightness which is a weird focal point. So darkening those areas somehow would look better, in my opinion.

For #2, I love this one. I like the crop and the purple/yellow color scheme a whole lot. The only issue I see is his hair. It looks purple on my monitor (I know the rest of the icon has purple as well but his hair looks strange to me) so maybe using selective color to make it darker would help with that.

I still feel like a newbie when it comes to icons so giving concrit to you is a bit scary. :)

Don't worry. First of all, I've had my share of harsh concrit so I can take it and secondly your concrit is well written and fair, so I can't see anyone take offense to it.

Icon #1
In hindsight I should have centered her and not have the repeat because I do see your point about the composition.

Icon #2
Thank you for that thought out and well formulated concrit. I do have a problem with contrast in that my icons always 'pop' much more in my PS as opposed to when I've uploaded them to PB and view them on the internet.

Thanks! :)

Oh I know this all too well. I upload it and I'm sitting there thinking is that the icon I made?

I haven't made many icons in over a year, so I feel very uncertain about the ones I do make. I'm also trying to change "styles", so I'd love to hear some concrit on my newest icons (:

please note that I'm deliberately trying to go for strong colours. I'm afraid to go over the top though :| and I feel like something is missing in the first one, but I often don't know when to stop slapping textures and stuff on an icon, because it's never good enough in my opinion...

thank you so much for sharing your opinion with me!
I'm surprised to read that there are only little colour changes people point out to me, but I'm glad about that, as that is easily adjustable. I'm glad to know I'm on the right path, thank you!

Note: I'm glad to see strong colors used here! Color and saturation is very underrated in my opinion.

1) The green is very different and I like the fact that it's really played with in all the icons, not just this first one. I'm not entirely sure if I would change anything, really. Maybe slightly over-sharpened, but then again this could just be my own monitor. I like it, can't lie.

2) So glad I know this fandom! :) While Aidan's face looks nice with the contrasts in the black, the pale yellow and the green seemed to make him look sickly rather than like a vampire at half-mast. Granted, it's a playful coloring, but more of yellows or orange might make this work a little more. The subtle coloring to the blood is nice.

3) Again, I like the use of the texture and coloring you did here; it really brings out an ethereal state to the icon. Makes it feel like a dream more than a scene in the show. You might play with amping up the contrast a bit, but overall, it's very nice.

Note: OBI-WAN! /end fangirliness/

1) I like the crop here, dipping below the natural horizon line. And the coloring really makes the twin moons pop, as well as the rest of the desert landscape. The whole thing seems a bit blurry, though. Maybe try for a looser crop as a whole, rather than so close?

2) I can't help it. I really do love this icon! The crop is nice (smooth and concise) with the texture just barely-there and the greenish tint settled nicely. It's very earth-tone, which suits the subject well. Overall? I wouldn't really change anything.

3) I love the idea of this icon. The broken window, the sense of action. but the text seems to get a little lost in the windows/lights from the background. I can read the word "lost" but it almost looks as if there is some ascender addition to the letter 'S' there. Again, this may just be a monitor issue, I don't know.

Um, I don't think I clarified myself, so I mean that it looks like there is an extra "thingie" on the letter 'S'. I think this is where the character and the background meld a little. That's all I meant.

You're welcome. They're good icons, really! ;)
