Help with Typography.

Hello. I started doing typography not too long ago and after following a bunch of tutorials on the internet, I'm quite satisfied with my own portrait. But then as I was browsing on Deviantart yesterday, I saw this typographic portrait of Nichkhun (from 2PM) and I was really amazed. It looks like textures were layered in the finished product. The pattern on his tie (I actually think it looks like a shirt but that's just my opinion) seems like it might be part of the original picture, which is definitely still in there. The person who created this seems to have used several different fonts at different sizes,, layering the words over the original photo and whatever textures were used. The color is probably a combination of the font color used and some coloring techniques. I'm not too experienced with typography, but that's what my guess would be.

OMG yes. I just saw the original picure yesterday and you're right, the patterns are from the original OTL Thanks for the tips tho :)) Do you do typography too?

No, I've just had a lot of experience with making all sorts of digital art. If you're looking for textures to use in your own work, DeviantArt is en excellent resourrce, and for different fonts, dafont.com has a massive selection.
