Oh my gosh, yay! I love your bright-yet-grungy icons. Tutorials for any of these would be amazing, I have no idea how you get these kinds of colours and texture! :D

This may be a weird question and you definitely don't need to answer if you don't want to, but I also really love your texture and text guides from last year; obviously you don't need to repeat anything you've already explained, but I would be very interested in hearing if you've discovered any new techniques/strategies/favourite textures/fonts/etc since then :D

Thank you so much!

the short answer would be a combination of color fill layers on screen/hard light plus a number of grunge textures on screen (normally this by pandavirus that actually helps lighten the colors but yeah, i'll work on a longer guide/tutorial XD

and it's not a weird question at all. i haven't really changed my process much except maybe now i use curves to prep my cap instead of duplicated layers because it's faster. my favorite textures/font remain somewhat the same. i'm in love with blending pictures/textures into silhouettes at the moment and my favorite tool/technique is probably using the black & white adjustment layer for contrast/coloring. you'll probably see that in action in any of the tutorials i'm gonna make ^_^

Thank you! Actually, seeing that you use that texture frequently is very helpful, I see how it helps give your icons that random painty look that I love so much! Can't wait for the longer tutorials; I'll be interested in seeing how you use the black and white adjustment layer because that's one tool I definitely never touch xD

yeah, ever since i discovered what it could do i just can't let it go. you'll have to physically pry that texture from my cold dead hands lol. i'll probably have something on the third icon up very soon. the first two are a bit more complicated so i'm still ruminating on how to explain them haha.

also, i talk about my pastel coloring and the black & white adjustment layers here! :D
