Well... I just got back from going to see the documentary Uncontitutional and the Orpheum. Afterward there was a panel/citizen dialogue thing but I didn't have a chance to comment so I'm going to put my coment here, basically for the sake of not forgetting it as I believe those that read this journal don't really need a reminder.
It has come up in the comments earlier tonight that we need to get people to get their news from somewhere other than Fox. I would like to take a moment to comment on the state of my generation. I'm a freshman in high school and for many of the people I go to school with, watching Fox News would be a great improvement. Fox News may not be too objective, but it's news. We've had class discussions in which the Patriot Act came up and half of the class had no idea what it was. I want to remind all of you, talk to young people about these issues. These topics do not have labels on them that say "for adults only." Bring up the Patriot Act in a discussion, ask the young people you know what they think abouot the war in Iraq. We've mentioned that education is important. Teenagers and children are open to it. At some point in time, my generation will be running to world, so I ask you for my help in educating them about that world today.
