She was this slip of a women and I never liked skinny women. But she had this thing, this air you might call it, the most totally magnetic women I'd ever seen, and probably ever seen since. You had to look at her, you had to listen to her, there was no escaping her.
When she stood, as she was standing now, with the soft brush of twilight coming through the window, she looked almost mythical. The light that shimmered in above and below and behind the thin curtain graced across her collarbone and landed on her neck, right where her hairline started, or ended, he never knew the right terms for anything. She must have sensed their was a foreign presence in her contemplation, turning around to raise an eye brow at him.
"Can I help you?" She gestured around, pausing as her eyes reached the sign on the door. Katharine Hepburn with the gold star she favoured so much.
"Care for a smoke?" He raised his lighter in a mock salutation. She pursed her lips and came to stand beside him, sliding a pack of Camels out of her sweater pocket. She took the lighter from him when he offered it and lit up.
"You know, I got suspended from Bryn Mawr for this," She waved the cigarette around and studied it.
"I heard it was also for dallying around past midnight with the gents," His eyes lit up. She scoffed and went to the sofa, taking a long drag and blowing three perfect smoke rings in the air.
"You know something, Kat?" She rolled her eyes at the endearment.
"No, I don't know anything," She puffed again and glanced out the window.
"If you weren't dressed as a gent, right now I just might take advantage of you," He eyed her up and down.
"You could certainly try."
