I don't know what I'm doing anymore. Sometimes I think that, maybe, just maybe! I have a bit more than average intelligence. Then I look at the people around me and know I'm just someone average - or even below - leeching hungerly to the bellies of those who I know are better than me. I just want a taste of what it's like to be someone with real ( Read more... )

I thnk you're pretty intelligent. I mean, you kept up with Wes and I discussing theorheical astrophysics the other night. I think you just need to find out what you're most interested in. When I was studying engineering, I was doing pretty poorly because I just didn't like what I was doing anymore. Once you start school, if I were you, I would take a whole bunch of random classes to see what you're really interested in first. Even give classes you don't think you'd like a chance. Then do whatever you feel most comfortable in. Personally, I'd like to go back and get a philosophy degree someday.

Also, going to school isn't the only way to learn. When I'm at work, I'll spend hours just reading the Wikipedia to learn about new things (usually ancient philosophies and religions). Also, Berkeley has a whole bunch of classes that are available for free on iTunes podcast. Really, I think that's the problem Wes, Ben, and I had going into college. We all knew we wanted to be computer programmers... but none of us ended up doing it because we weren't that interested. Find what you're interested in and you will be fine.
