And I can now add Douglas Coupland to the list of incredible authors I have worked with. He is easily one of the most giving authors I have worked with yet. There were about 120 people at the event, 95% of whom got in line to get autographs. He took the time to have a 2 to 5 minute conversation with each fan. It was incredible to watch. Great reader, funny man, no one left unhappy that night. He was easily the one author I have been the most impressed by and the bar was set pretty damn high over the last few weeks, believe me.
And who doesn't love an author who shows up with his own bottle of wine?
I'm going to Regina this weekend for...some...reason having to do with Michelle's family and a surprise birthday. It will be quick appearance for me then off to Bob's! I need the break. I've had an event almost every night for the past two months, at least 8 of which were attended by 90 to 120 people, and two that were 300 and 450. I've been averaging 5 hours a night, one meal every two days, and have developed a fantastic eye twitch due to stress.
Good times...Scotty is in S'toon all summer and is going to help to get into a gym routine. I need to get more exercise, which will hopefully help me regulate my other unhealthy habits.
This fall...I'm looking at Guy Vanderhaeghe, Arthur Slade, Gail Bowen, Anthony Bidulka, and John Ralston Saul. And I'm just getting started on my big goals of Leonard Cohen and Farley Mowat. Upcoming Concerts/Performances: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Little Richard, and the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan's "The Taming of the Shrew" and "The Two Gentlemen of Verona".
Next stop; BOOK EXPO!!!!!!!!!!
