Dying doesn't usually happen all at once

QOTD: "We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves; otherwise we harden."

Have I become jaded when a NCO schoolhouse graduates nine flights of students and it doesn't feel like a long ceremony? I credit the apparent temporal constriction mostly to Chief Jordan's brief - if somewhat unsettling - keynote speech. Thank you, chief. Brevity is a virtue often lost to the higher echelons.

Today was seriously lame. I couldn't concentrate at all. Sometimes I'd just sit staring at my computer screens. I should've been transferring slides, but that's tedious and physically uncomfortable work for stupid reasons. (If we have a slide scanner, should it not be in the office where THOUSANDS of slides are being digitized? Deliver me from interoffice relationships.) I should be asleep even now, and I will be shortly, but I needed some wind-down time after the shoot. I have another graduation tomorrow night to do. I don't understand why these schoolhouses have to do their graduations back-to-back. And they don't always. But the NCO graduation takes me three days to edit and archive properly. ALS only takes one. I guess that's the difference in having a ceremony-light graduation of 120 students versus a heavily stylized ceremony with only 30 graduates. Doing the longer ceremony first really bottlenecks my workflow, though. Not amused.

My apartment is a nightmare. Pretty gross. I can't get much of anything accomplished when I get home at night. Last night though, I was low on food and knew I wouldn't have a chance to cook, so I made two meatloaves, a tuna casserole and ten muffins. That was pretty good, but it took every bit of my time. And I was exhausted this morning. I'll be exhausted again tomorrow morning, sadly enough. At least I'll have boring editing to do. It'll drive me crazy after three hours and productivity will fall through the floor, but that's that.

Burned a new CD for my short back-and-forth to work. It turned out fairly well. I'm pretty pleased since I've worn out the ones I've been listening to. Too much of the same thing regurgitated over and over. I'd really like to take a week to track down songs I like but haven't acquired and then organize them onto some CDs. Time I don't really have at the moment. I need a job with a lot more vacation time. I'm interested in seeing how the President handles government contractors. It'd be nice for my job to roll into a GS position.

I say that now.
