I stopped at Lowe's today and got some fluorescent light bulbs for my apartment. Now I have more cost-efficient lighting for my sleeping room. I also now have a bulb for my outside door light, so I'll be using that more. Went to the mall to see if Express was open because I really need a new pair of jeans and I really liked the last pair I got from them and now I know exactly how I want them to fit. They were still closed, however. McRae's had some decent sales going on and I found a pair of pants that I like, but the smallest waist size they had was 32 and it just wasn't doable. I hit Bed, Bath and Beyond after that and spent more time there than I thought I would. I'd never been in one before and I was pretty pleased with what I found. I found some photo frame stuff that I wanted and some that I'd been looking for. Found a clock that I really rather liked, but I couldn't convince myself to spend $30 on something that's going to tick all the time on my wall. I'm not a big fan of battery-operated analog clocks. Found a neat mirror that was $60 (ha!) as well as a large (not large enough) selection of towels. I had a coupon for $5 off, but it was in my car, so I decided to walk to Target and check them out.
I was not at all impressed by Target. In fact, I was disappointed. I don't see the point of building a Target if it's not going to be a Super Target. I know two Super Wal-Marts is a lot for an area this small, but we're not talking another Wal-Mart here. I'm a big fan of Target produce. I found some jeans in Target's infinitely small menswear section. And while they were, in fact, the impossible-to-find 29" waist, they wouldn't have sat right. Needed a 30. Only a 32 in that style. Ah, well. No jeans for me. Went back to Bed, Bath and Beyond and bought a really nice red towel. After there, I went to Circuit City where I bought the DDR Extreme 2 bundle. Had to get Brody to look up my PeopleSoft number since I'd lost it.
I've been playing Extreme 2 for most of the evening and I am very happy with it. I daresay this is the best mix yet. They certainly got their act together after Extreme. Maybe I didn't read the songlist correctly, but I came across "Boom Boom Dollar (K.O.G.G. Mix)" and almost freaked out. I love that song and it's NEVER been on a console mix. That along with "Butterfly (Upswing Mix)," "Dynamite Rave" and "Dive," this mix has all of my favorites. I also came across a song that has an incredibly badass 3D anime-style video in the background. I almost couldn't play because I was trying to watch the video. There are a lot of good songs added like "Block Rockin Beats" and "Silence" that are familiar to the underground and dance/trance scenes. Gameplay in Mission Mode was really dull at first and I didn't think I was going to like it at all, but by the time I got to Area C, it was starting to really fuck me up. In one final song, it stacked all the arrows on top of each other. That was fucking crazy. Another one automatically switched to downward scrolling. One song switched to Course mode and made me play until I met a point quota before I could pass the song. One final song fucking played in Oni Mode. And the fuck all of the bunch: One song made me hit 150 arrows - ANY arrows - that weren't arrows for the song. Let me clarify: I had to hit the pad at least 150 times without correctly hitting an arrow on the screen. This was a hell of a lot harder than I thought it would be. Fucked me up. Must've replayed it 20 times. Was a relief to get back to standard gameplay. There's also a point earning system so that you can "buy" songs for free play mode or to get hints on how to unlock songs in Mission Mode. And apparently there are hidden arrows in some songs that you don't get penalized for missing, but get extra points for hitting. Good god. Anyhow, it was a fun time. I'm glad I bought it.
My parents stopped by with my brother in the middle of "In the Heat of the Night" by E-Rotic (causing me to fail). Logan gave me a cookie. Cryptic. He had planned to come up and play CTF with us tomorrow night, but it looks like he won't be able to make it, which is shitty. He does have a rough timetable to work with, but I think a little more flexibility on my parents' part could make it work. There's still a small chance he'll make it, but it's not at all likely. I am looking forward to tomorrow night's game, though. I need to try to put together a revised rules list for emailing, but I don't have the most recent version at my disposal and I liked that one more than the one I have. Also need to work on maps. I guess I should work on that tonight.
