Week 3 sans internet at home has gone well. I'm actually liking it where I'm not hooked in all the time. I've gotten a lot of things done that I normally wouldn't have.
Huge thanks go out to
yezra for sending me eyecandy in the form of a Hugh Jackman movie. Just...guh. I also finished up one story and I've gotten an idea for another. Nate and Moira have moved into my fannish part of my brain and are refusing to leave, which is perfectly fine with me. I'm going to start editing their first story tomorrow.
October is here, which means that the kick off to Fall has arrived! Can't wait for the crisp, cool weather to finally show up. After months of hot and humid South Texas stuff, we could use a break.
October also means that two of my favorite things are around the bend. One: this is my official Pre-NaNo season. Time for the hyper-organized and chart-needy portion of me to break out the Excel spreadsheets and post-it notes to map this year's novel. It's also almost time to start hoarding tasty snacks and microwaved meals for no-fuss dinners that will otherwise cut into my writing time trying to prepare. Besides Thanksgiving, homecooked stuff will make a reappearance in December.
Two: TRF is the coming Saturday. My friends and I went and got season tickets beforehand, so we're going to try to go to as many weekends as possible. I still need to air out my costume, relace my corset, and paint my toenails (I'm wearing flip flops until I can look around for a pair of boots there at the shops) a bright Wench Red, but I'm ready. I also made myself a European 4-in-1 chain maille anklet out of brass rings that I've attached bells to so I jingle whenever I walk. :)
M and I have joined Weight Watchers. We're on Week 2 and by going on the scale at home (mostly because I can weigh myself in my underwear, which is the numbers that I'm going to because they're lower than when I'm in my work clothes and shoes) I've dropped past my pre-surgery weight and I'm working on getting down to the weight that I was when I first got hired at my current job. I've been keeping the food journal/tracker and I'm seeing that even without changing any of my eating habits, I really don't eat a lot of anything. The tasty snacks for NaNo I talked about earlier are going to be baby carrots and other veggies instead of Cheese Nips and M&Ms this year. I'm using my gym membership a lot more than I used to, and the ten mile hike that we took on our camping trip pushed me off my plateau and now I'm going 2-5 miles every other day on the treadmill. I probably should start using the weight machines, but they intimidate the hell out of me still. At least the backs of my legs have gotten a bit slimmer, which is all good. And hopefully I won't get cramped up halfway through the parking lot at TRF like I did opening weekend last year.
On the 15th, a bunch of co-workers and I are going to head down to Corpus and catch
Evil Dead: the musical. I dunno if we're going to sit in the gore zone, but if we do, we'll probably have to get there early or something.
