Currently watching a pot of homemade barbecue sauce simmer on the stovetop. It's bubbled a cuople of times, so I'm gonna have to clean said stovetop when this is all said and done.

Menu for Dad's Cookout O' the Weekend (as a way of a happy Father's Day gift from me):

Grilled boneless short ribs with sweet cola sauce
Sirloin tip kebabs with grilled onions
Pasta salad
Lemon merangue pie

I have the meat in the fridge marinating (dry rub for ribs, wet marinade for the kebabs) the sauce is about fifteen minutes away from being done, so I'll let that sit and cool before I put it in a glass jar for shipping purposes, and I'm going to be making both the pasta salad and the pie tomorrow morning before heading out to Mom and Dad's place. Oh Food Network, I ♥ you. The pasta salad has me a bit leery because it calls for an evaporated milk dressing that I've never made before and I'm crossing my fingers on the pie crust. Issa + makign pies = dry, flaky crust that is not so yummy. But Dad loves lemon merangue, so I'm going to give it a try. If all else fails, I can always fall back on the chocolate chip shortbread cookies with earl grey glaze - Dad pretty much inhaled those the last time I made them.

Fanfic: I think I'm channeling the Princess Bride, because every time I write Nate in everyday clothes, I think of him wearing Inigo's costume. (but I refuse to put in a "Hello. My name is Nathaniel Howe. You killed my father, prepare to die." scene, because that would put a damper on the whole Nathaniel/Moira dynamic, ya know.) Currently trying to write prompt 18/30.
