So I went to go into Word last night to edit some things, and it won't work. Seems I needed to enter in the product key to Office, which I didn't get a prompt to do in the first place. Looked on the back of my laptop, found thet product key, entered it WORD. FOR. WORD. and I get NOTHING. It says that it's incorrect, that I need to verify that I have the right key and try again.
Look, I had two other people read off the key. They got the same damn thing that I had, which apparently, is NOT the correct key, even if it is on THE FREAKING LABEL AS A DAMN PRODUCT KEY! Argh.
Going to Best Buy after work so I can drop Al off at Geek Squad and see if they can come up with something else.
Edit: Wentto Best Buy, tried to explain what was going on, got interrupted and rudely pointed towards the general area where the software is because "Like, Office isn't installed." and when I tried to tell the girl that there was a product key on the back of Al, she was "No, that's not EVEN the right key. Office is over by the video games." and then she turned away to talk with her co-worker.
As somebody that's spent most of my working life in customer service, that was a slap in the face to everything I've had to learn over the years. The person that checked me out wasn't any better. I don't know if they were just plain rude to begin with, if there was something going on in the workplace that was distracting them, a bad day, or if no one had ever taken them aside and told them "Hey, if you want customers to keep coming back and spending money at our store, treat them better than dirt."
Anyway, Word and the rest of Office is now working, which is all that really matters. And now back to our regularly scheduled program of uploading a bunch of stuff to the Pit.
