today -up until an hour and a half ago- was a no-nap day of epic proportions. it required a mid-day martini once r got home and some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.
now instead of napping like everyone else in my house, i'm having a hot lavender bath and researching super yards and wood grain play mats.
i went to my first pilates class in a good ten years last week. i'm so happy to have it back in my life. it's at a tiny studio a thirty minute walk (or seven minute drive) from my house where the absolute max people in the room is nine. (we were five with the instructor). perfect.
it's so hot here and i hate it. our apartment has been overtaken with fans and we still need to spend the late afternoons and early evenings barely clad and barely moving.
we did make a family trip to parksville beach last week where iver had his first sit in the ocean. the water was so warm and there was a live blues band playing and the sand sculpture competition was on. it was a pretty perfect day and i left my phone in the car so no photo documentation was made.
oh and we also had a family date at the library last week when we meant to attend a baby drop-in but it was for toddlers. we felt too weird to leave so we stayed and sang songs and listened to stories and it wasn't the worst. i'll definitely be going again when i have both leif and iver for the day. (have i ever mentioned faye, my best mom friend who i met on a blind friend date when we were both pregnant? we hit it off so amazingly good and we'll be taking care of each other's children when we're at work as well as nanny-sharing when we're all at work. it's surprising and relaxing to have such a similar friend who shares the same family and child raising values as i do. yay faye!)
ok we're at the two hour nap mark. time to do something else before he wakes up.
