In 2007, Fall Out Boy was on top of the world, topping the Billboard charts and performing for sold-out crowds of screaming teenagers.
And for many Chicagoans older than their core audience, the band's soaring popularity was a strange phenomenon: What, exactly, was the deal with these suburban emo kids and their enormous popularity?
One of driving forces behind FOB's success was front man Patrick Stump. Stump was just 17 when he joined Fall Out Boy in 2001, helping drive the band from playing gigs in suburban basements and Chicago's Fireside Bowl to selling more than 2.5 million copies of its 2005 album From Under the Cork Tree.
The band stepped away from it all in 2009 - going on indefinite hiatus. This week Stump released his first solo album Soul Punk.
He recently stopped by our studios to talk about his solo work, the rise of FOB, and, yes, to fact check his Wikipedia File.
