Le Bon Temps!

Dear God, two Super Parades down and I think I'm already half dead!

As some of you may or may not know, it's Mardi Gras time down in New Orleans and with the recent Superbowl win this has already been one of the craziest (in the really really good way) I've seen. People are being so nice to each other! Shouting football chants at each other across the street between floats, sharing food and music! I'm so glad I'm living here for this!

Thus far I've been to 3 parades this week.

The first was thrown together last minute after the Saints won. All the super parades donated the best float they had for the year to them for the parade and the whole team and coaches etc. was riding on them. My poor dad really wanted to see it, so I ditched my friends so he wouldn't be alone. Took the streetcar downtown, happened to run into my cousin Remy's law office to use the bathroom and BAM their having a huge party since the building was on the parade route! Thus, got to see all the players from the roof of the building and was well fed! ( I did have to crawl out a window to get on the roof tho. > >; )

Partied Thursday. Friday night was Muses, which is the only all female super parade (only men are in the others). That's the only big one I had never been to before. I went with a bunch of people who are a year ahead of me. It was fun but absolutely crazy. Not the parade, which was hilarious because all the floats had a "things women hate men over" theme which included such gems as a giant paper-mache toilet bowl with the sign "SEAT DOWN" on it. I don't hang out with them very often, but jeezums they know how to do it right.

Today was Endymion. A friend from school had a bunch of us over to her house since she lives in Midcity a few blocks from the parade route and it was really nice. We brought food and booze and basically chilled in her front yard with her neighbors and family all day until the parade. Yes. We tail-gate for parades. That's how we roll. (besides, you'd never get parking otherwise.) The best part about today was the fact that we had some Mardi Gras Virgins with us. It's so much fun to see how people react to their first parade! One guy was just kinda shell-shocked but everyone else had a blast. They react to catching beads like kids! Srsly, they took a huge bag of them back to the house, dumped them on the floor and sorted them between themselves like kids do with candy at Halloween. I loled.

Tomorrow is Backus and we're basically doing the same thing over again. Another friend is throwing a huge parade-watch-valentine party at their house which is uptown, conveniently on the route! Knowing people is for winners.

God, it's not even Lundi Gras yet and I haven't seen the people coming from Baton Rouge yet either! I haven't even been in the French Quarter! (not since the superbowl anyway)

If I survive this week, and the bachellorette/wedding this weekend I'm going to be a god damned super hero.

Also, that's when my diet starts. Ugh, too much!
