I am astounded that the world of education is as inefficient as it is.
If I were to send you my resume (and so were hundreds of other people), why in the hell would you turn around and request by form letter that everybody sends you their entire packet of information? I mean, would you rather look at my two page document which has all the answers, or have me send in a completed application (2 pages), my transcripts (2 pages), my certification (1 page, which you won't be able to use in your non-Michigan state), and my letters of recommendation (2 pages)?
The time difference, between looking at a resume, and looking at an application packet, is enormous. You could send me a quick, personal e-mail that says 'dude, I looked at your resume, you're not what we're looking for, try it again someplace else', or you could send one that says 'hey, I looked at your resume, it looks good...send the other stuff'.'
Whatev. Time to hit the copy shop and the post office. One last thing. I am pissed that these people put their e-mail addresses in the job postings at all, if they're just going to tell me to mail my info in anyway. The end.
